Project management for theecological recoveryofOrmoy basin

Lieusaint (77)

Basin operation

Created in Lieusaint in 1981, the Ormoy basin collects over an area of 0.74 ha runoff from a 91-hectare catchment area, essentially made up of urban areas and road networks.

The pelvis has three main functions:

  • Flow capping: By buffer effect, the Ormoy basin recovers the different flows from the 14 entry points, slows down the flows and regulates the discharge at the Ru des Hauldres.

  • Depollution: The Ormoy basin contributes to the depollution of rainwater by two effects: decantation following the stagnation of water and phyto-purification by semi-aquatic plants currently existing at the foot of the banks.

  • Amenity: The basin of the Ormoy has an amenity and leisure function characterized by a large number of fishermen.

Valuation by agricultural spreading

This cleaning was carried out after the basin had been dried and made it possible to:

  • restore the initial hydraulic retention capacity and remove the sediments present in the basin,

  • eliminate the visual and olfactory nuisances currently observed by local residents.

The sludge from the cleaning was recovered by reuse in agricultural spreading on agricultural land located in the immediate vicinity of the site.

Shoreline development

The development work on the banks has made it possible to:

  • strengthen the banks to stop their erosion,

  • maintain and reinforce the existing vegetation at the foot of the banks, in order to improve biodiversity and develop the natural purification of water by plants,

  • create safety facilities in areas presenting the risk of falling and drowning for maintenance workers and third parties,

  • develop water inlets in the canal.
